Happy New Year!

We hope that you have had a wonderful holiday season and we wish you a new year filled with great photographic opportunities. Below we have listed some resolutions that may help you to capture those moments.

Tom has moved his office after being in the same location for 21 years. He's in a neat old refurbished building where saddles were once made which now has a variety of small businesses and artist's studios. For those of you who are local, it's the building with Tanner Hill Gallery and North Light Imaging.  He will be cutting back his clinical practice over the year, spending more time with our photography. I know, he's been saying that for a long time, but I think this time it will actually happen. Both of us are planning to do more teaching of short workshops and individual lessons this coming year. Tom also does portfolio reviews and hopes to also use his office as a small gallery.  See our website for fees, etc.

We are looking forward to a busy first half year with our workshops and photo tours.  Costa Rica with the Panama extension, scheduled for late February/early March, and also the Smokies in April will be here before you know it.  We also have other exciting locations as you can see by our schedule listed below.  We hope that you will be able to join us.

 Best,

Tom and Pat

 Wilderness Wildlife Week

Each year the Office of Special Events in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, has a celebration called Winterfest. Wilderness Wildlife Week is a part of this celebration and it takes place this year from January 12-19. WWW consists of a week of workshops, lectures and slide programs presented by 'experts' in their field, all of which are free to attend. The subjects are varied but most center around nature or some aspect of the Smoky Mountains region. Motel rates are reduced this time of year making this an even better bargain. We will be joining our friends Harold Stinnette and Kendall Chiles in presenting a nature photography workshop from 9-1 on Saturday, January 12.  Tom and I will also present a program on close-up photography from 9-10 on Sunday, January 13.  There are many more photography presentations throughout the week, all by fine photographers. For more information including a list of the programs and presenters, check out http://mypigeonforge.com/winterfest-wilderness.asp

 New Year's Photo Resolutions

In 2008 I will:

·          Stop and photograph something I like when I see it rather than saying 'I'll go back later'

·          Always carry a camera

·          Try different styles of photography: documentary, abstract, impressionistic

·          Choose a subject I like to photograph and make a point of photographing it once a month

·          Spend one day photographing with the piece of equipment that I like the least

·          Donate a bit of time to share my images with folks in assisted living facilities
